Where and how to find us
BSoUP meets on the third Tuesday each month in Meeting Room 3, Union Building, Beit
Quadrangle, Imperial College, South Kensington, London SW7 [Entrance via
Prince Consort Road], unless stated otherwise (Directions). Bar faciilities are available on the
ground floor. Members will get da calling notice with a link to join in on line if they cannot come to London.
Someone to meet you
The idea of just walking into a room full of people you
don't know can be daunting for many of us. To overcome this, a couple of
BSoUP Committee members are in the meeting room downstairs from 7.30pm to
greet new and potential members; so come along early and introduce
yourself.
If you have any questions before you come, feel free to
contact any committee member. A list of committee members and their contact
details can be found here.
Improve your underwater photography
At the monthly meetings you will be able to learn from
talks on different techniques, as well as be inspired by presentations from
other underwater photographers talking about what they do and showing their
images. Take a look at this year's programme of
speakers/events to see the usual format, topics and speakers. There is also
'social' time during the meetings!
A photo competition takes place every month. Whether you
enter it or not, seeing the competition is a great opportunity to get an
idea of what makes a good underwater image - and to see how your own images
'measure up' against the rest. Competition subjects for this year are
listed here.
Most important of all, you will meet other underwater
photographers at BSoUP meetings. During the social time you can talk to
others about techniques and 'how to do it', equipment and how to use it,
places to go and what to see there, and find out what's hot and what's
not!
Attending as regularly as you can, and taking part in
competitions and other activities will help you learn more, be more
inspired, and get to know people better.
Long distance members
Many members travel long distances to come to monthly
meetings. However, for those who are too far away, there are still many
benefits to joining BSoUP. If you live more than 50 miles from
London you pay a reduced subscription. You will receive the
magazine 'In Focus', be able to participate in members-only monthly
competitions (and view competition entries before and after the competition
takes place), pay reduced entry fees for the Splash-in competitions and
other events that BSoUP organises from time to time, have full access to
the Forum on the BSoUP website to exchange information with other members
and advertise equipment for sale, and if you have your own website we will
provided a link to it from the BSoUP website, where we also highlight one
member's website each week in the News.
Student members
If you are a UK student we offer a further reduction on
the annual subscription.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
