Alex
Mustard is a keen BSoUP member and acts as digital photography
officer for the Society. You can see more of his images in his
first book "The Art Of Diving" which was released
in March 2006.
Alex
writes "I actually discovered I had won the competition
while in the Bahamas - as poor weather forced us to shelter
for a night in the West End marina on Grand Bahama - where
there is free Wi-Fi!"
"My
original entry for the 2006 Theme Portfolio competition was
not
allowed to compete as Martha, the BSoUP Chairman, thought
that some might think that canine hydrotherapy pool might
count as a swimming pool and swimming pool shots are not allowed.
So in a rush I re-submitted a more serious entry on the theme
of "Circles in the
Sea". The theme was borrowed from a similar portfolio
of Linda Dunk's
which won this trophy a few years ago. The portfolio was assembled
in
a bit of a rush - in West Palm Beach, Florida - the night
before
boarding the Jim Abernethy's Shear Water for a shark safari
in the
Bahamas."
