Organised by the British Society of Underwater Photographers in association with the National Marine Aquarium

Judged by Kelvin Boot, John McIntyre, and Peter Rowlands

Diving in Plymouth

Mount Batten Centre and the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth, Devon Saturday 7 July 2007

The British Splash-in Championship - 2007, organised by the British Society of Underwater Photographers (BSoUP) in association with the National Marine Aquarium, will take place on Saturday 7 July at the Mount Batten Centre and the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth, Devon. All underwater photographers are invited to participate, whether they are members of BSoUP or not.

There are two competitions - images taken on the day (film or digital) and prints taken prior to the event will be judged by the audience. Prizes, trophies and individual awards will be presented for winning images in each category (see below for full details). In addition, a grand prize will be awarded for the image selected by an independent panel of judges as the best taken in local waters on the day. This year's panel of judges consists of Kelvin Boot, Director of the National Marine Aquarium, John McIntyre, award-winning underwater film-maker and BBC journalist, and Peter Rowlands, editor of Underwater Photography Magazine. This is again a fabulous one week liveaboard holiday in the Red Sea generously donated by Tony Backhurst Scuba.

Viewing and judging of the on the day images entered will take place at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth on the Saturday night.  Note that water taxis between the Mount Batten Centre and the Aquarium will be available.  A barbeque will be held prior to film competitors receiving their processed film back. The cost is £8.50 and there is a vegetarian option.

TIMING

Entries for the Print Competition must be sent by post to Mike Russell at the address on the entry form to arrive no later than Wednesday 23 May 2007. They can also be brought to the May BSoUP meeting on Wednesday 16 May 2007. The Print Competition will be on display at the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth from 16 June, for judging by Aquarium visitors (see below for more details).
