Alan James

Alan James is sixty two years of age and lives in his birth city of Bristol
He runs a specialist underwater photography retail outlet based in this city
Alan started diving and underwater photography at the same time during 1984
He is an honorary life member of the BUPG and also a BSoUP member for many years
.

Alan's comment was: 'This portfolio is perhaps not blessed with any amazing subject potential and certainly does not represent what I might consider to be my best work but it is based more on a balance of colour and composition compiled from subject material considered specifically for this purpose as the week unfolded. This created an interesting exercise that other Photographers might find well worth persuing, it can also be very enjoyable while creating a sense of purpose.

All of the images in his portfolio were taken during a post-op recovery week at Nuweiba in the Red Sea. The portfolio was completed using a Nikon D200 in a Sea & Sea DX-D200 housing and dual YS110 strobes

Alan's aim was to produce a portfolio from this trip that demonstrated a balance of Reds, Blues and Natural light backgrounds The top three images were produced using a 60mm macro lens on wide apertures and 1/60th shutter speed while the bottom shots were all close focus 10.5 fisheye lens at f22. and 1/250th shutter speed.
