photo: Snorkeller by David George. who won the Diver Trophy
for the best British Underwater Photographer at the recent Cameras Beneath
the Waves festival in Birmingham. It was taken in Cuba
in 1983 when David was one of the members of the British team
which took part in Photosub International. The seafans in
the foreground are a flexible type which is found only in
the Caribean. The diver is Gillian Lythgoe. The picture, a
black and white print from an Ilford FP4 negative, won a gold
medal in the open moving life section as well an the BSoUP
Trophy for the best black and white print in this category.
It was taken with a Nikonos fitted with a 28 mm lens.
