Wildlife Photographer of the Year: Unforgettable Underwater Photography

by Rosamund Kidman Cox

"These are the most memorable underwater images from the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. They have been specially selected for this unique book from the hundred of thousands of images received over the last 50 years. The collection gives us a glimpse into an often unseen world containing many strange and beguiling creatures. Each image is accompanied by a story from the photographer, explaining what the image means to them and how they were able to capture it. This portfolio reveals a spectacular panoply of life, which is as diverse and colourful as anything found on land".

Exploring Britain's Hidden World by Keith Hiscock

About Keith Hiscock
Keith Hiscock has had a career in marine ecology and conservation since the early 1970s. Much of that career has been in consultancies and, as Head of the Marine Nature Conservation Review of Great Britain, in the statutory nature conservation bodies in the UK. In 1998, he started a collaboration with the MBA to develop a programme that would make more effective use of marine biodiversity information especially by adding knowledge that would identify the sensitivity of species and habitats. That collaboration led to the development of the MarLIN programme ( and its successors at the MBA whilst on secondment from Natural England and then employed by the MBA.

Keith 'retired' in 2007 but continues to contribute to relevant MBA contract work and is a MBA Associate Fellow.

Retirement provided the time to write a definitive guide to the science that underpins marine conservation: 'Marine Biodiversity Conservation - a Practical Approach' published by Routledge in August 2014. He continues to improve his knowledge of benthic marine ecosystems by taking part in surveys and just 'doing' natural history. His photographs are extensively used to support MBA projects. He has authored or co-authored over 60 papers or chapters in books and journals and over 80 limited circulation reports.

Keith will be bringing along a few copies (they are rather heavy)  of his latest book, Exploring Britain's Hidden World (  Get your signed copy at the specially reduced rate of £20. (Published price is £25).  If you have already bought the book, you are welcome to bring it along if you would like Keith to sign it.
