A DVD which showcases the best of British diving has been produced by the BSAC, together with underwater film-maker and BBC journalist John McIntyre.
The Dive Master Insurance-sponsored DVD features underwater footage of some the UK's best wrecks, from the HMS Scylla to Scapa Flow and marine life from basking sharks and dolphins to dogfish and anglerfish.
As part of the BSAC Go! Dive campaign, the DVD will be available to every person wishing to learn more about the BSAC as well as being sent to every branch in the UK.
Chapters have been devoted to subjects such as the wrecks of Scapa Flow and diving with seals. Bonus features include the oldest underwater colour footage of diving with the BSAC in the early days; |
|
a full-length BBC report on Plymouth wreck HMS Scylla; British photography tips by DIVE's Charles Hood; and a message from BSAC chairman Marcus Allen inviting divers to go diving with UK branches. Preparation and planning for the annual BSOUP Splash_In Competition by Charles Erb
Running successfully for over 30 years, this year our annual splash-in competition is more exciting than ever as it has now evolved into the 'British Splash-in Championship' with a fantastic array of prizes and sponsorship - see www.bsoup.org for more details. This ever popular and hugely enjoyable weekend has become a favourite with BSoUP member Charles Erb and his club, the Worcester BSAC. Charles will describe how he and his friends plan and prepare for the event. |

Diver by Charles Erb
Splash-in 2005 1st Digital wide-angle |
Charles has been interested in photography since childhood and diving for 20 years. Converting to digital in 2003, he now uses a housed Nikon D200 system and considers any dive without a camera to be a wasted opportunity. Like many of us I am sure, he is unable to dive as much as he would like, he is however a very experienced UK diver and splash-in veteran, I am sure his talk will be invaluable to anyone planning to join us for this year's excellent weekend in Devon. |

Main event - Dive magazine's British Underwater Image festival by Colin Doeg and Peter Scoones
Still regularly attending meetings after creating BSoUP an incredible 40 years ago, our two founders will provide a double act this month. Together, these two chaps possess such an incredible wealth of experience in underwater photography it is difficult to imagine just how far their knowledge reaches. Here's a secret tip - ply either of these great men with a moderate glass of good red wine and they will be more than happy to share any amount of that huge experience with you. Peter and Colin will be showcasing the winning entries in DIVE magazine's British Underwater Image Festival including both the video and print categories, which attracted more entries this year than previously.
If you can be anywhere near South Kensington on Wednesday night, can you resist such a show?
