BSoUP
Meeting - Wednesday 18 June at 7.30 for 8.00 p.m.
The
Holland Club, Imperial College, London SW7 5BD.
PAUL NAYLOR - GREAT BRITISH MARINE ANIMALS IN ACTION
Paul
will deliver a fascinating presentation about the behaviour
of British animals, together with how this can be captured
by camera.
Paul
has been snorkelling and diving around the coast of Britain
for nearly 30 years. Whether in the muddy shallows of a beach
lagoon in Norfolk or the deep, clear water around the Orkneys,
he has always been fascinated by the animals 'in residence'
and their behaviour. For the last 20 years, Paul has concentrated
on photographing these animals in their natural habitat and,
wherever possible, showing them getting on with their lives,
despite his presence. He delivers talks to schools, colleges,
conservation groups and diving clubs on the wonders of our
marine fauna, and also writes regularly about marine life
for dive magazines and other publications. He has a doctorate
in marine biology and is an Associate of the Royal Photographic
Society.

FOCUS
ON COMPETITION - UK SHOTS
Following
Dave Peake's highly informative talk last month, we are holding
a competition for UK shots this month to be judged 'on the
day' by the meeting
attendees. Competition rules can be found on the website.
KEN
SULLIVAN - THE RED SEA
Ken
is a BSoUP committee member, our 'in focus' magazine editor,
and a long standing, regular and popular figure at the London
meetings, annual
Splash-In and anything else involving underwater photography
he can possibly get to! Ken has had his pictures published
many times and has also been a
well-deserved winner of major competitions. Among many other
destinations, both exotic and local, Ken regularly visits
the Red Sea, on both land based
and liveaboard trips. He recently returned from one of each
(yes, lucky chap), a week in Sharks Bay to the North of Sharm,
and just back from 2 weeks
on a liveaboard in the Southern Red Sea.
Since
the Red Sea is still such a popular and relatively easily
reached location, Ken will present a selection of his shots
from the area, describing the sort of shots that can be achieved
together with how to achieve them.
