Michael Pitts: Fifty Shades of Blue and Shipwrecks of the Solent

The first presentation looks at 50 of Mike's images from different assignments around the globe. The wrecks talk looks at various wrecks he has been filming on behalf of English Heritage and the Maritime Archaeology Trust in the Solent Channel in minimal visibility and also in Lyme Bay. Time permitting Mike will also show an eight minute clip from a film he shot for National Geographic, 'Desert Seas', which won the merit award for underwater cinematography at last year's Missoula film festival.

Mike specializes in filming underwater and is regarded as one of Britain's foremost underwater cameramen. However, he is equally happy shooting on the surface or from the air. Amongst his many awards he has received Emmys for cinematography on two BBC landmark series: David Attenborough's 'Private Life of Plants' and 'Blue Planet'. He has just completed the underwater filming on Sky Atlantic's major 3D series on the Galapagos, presented by Sir David Attenborough. He is currently working the new BBC series 'Shark' and is about to start filming on the new BBC 'Atlantic' series and will be heading off to the South Atlantic early in the New Year. Besides his filming work he also shoots stills and his work has appeared in numerous publications and books.
