BSoUP Meeting - August

The next BSoUP meeting takes place on Wednesday, 18th August at 7.30 for 8.00 p.m. at our usual venue the Holland Club, Imperial College, S. Kensington, London. Directions. New and prospective new members will be welcomed from 7.30 p.m.

Photo techniques: How to win competitions by Brian Pitkin. Not everyone takes images in order to enter competitions. Nevertheless many of the criteria which apply to the selection of competition images, also apply to images used for other purposes such as publication either in books and magazines or online. Brian will cover the basics of selecting images and entering them in competitions, be they prints or digital images.

Focus On Competition: British Wide Angle. The competion is now closed. BSoUP members only may view all the entries in the Competition Slideshow. You will be asked to login if you have not already done so the session.

Main event: Social evening. Bring laptops, images and any kit you would like to sell or exchange. If you are bringing a laptop please ensure that the battery is fully charged before you arrive as there are a limited number of power sockets available.

Focus On British Wide-angle - Results

Congratulations to Rick Ayrton who won this month's Focus On competition with an image of a diver on the submarine u102 taken in the Orkney Is. near Stronsay in 82m. The image (right) was taken at 1000 ISO, f2.8 at 1/15th sec.

Congratulations also to Alex Tattersall who came second with an image of a seal against Snell's window (below) taken in the Farnes last week at f8 and 1/160th sec. and to Catherine de Lara who came third with an image of a diver and boilers on unknown wreck in Newquay, Cornwall taken at f2.8 and 1.40 sec (below right).

There were a total of 21 entries.
