The next BSoUP meeting takes place on Wednesday, July 21st at 7.30 for 8.00 p.m. at our usual venue the Holland Club, Imperial College, S. Kensington, London. Directions. New members will be welcomed from 7.30 p.m.

Annual Event: Splash-in Review

Focus On Competition: Anemone fish. BSoUP members only. Competition now closed. Members may view all entries in the Competition Slideshow, but you will be asked to login if you have not already done so.

Main Event: ''Making the most of a Jim Abernethy Trip by Simon Rogerson.

Simon has worked as a diving and marine journalist for 12 years and is currently editor of DIVE, Britain's best-selling scuba magazine. His freelance writing and photography has appeared in a number of publications, including Esquire, FHM, GQ, the Sunday Times and the Independent newspaper. Simon has been a friend of the Florida-based shark specialist Jim Abernethy since an early charter on his liveaboard, the Shearwater, back in 2002. For this talk, Simon will talk about some of his own experiences on board the Shearwater, and will offer advice on how photographers can get the most out of what is unique diving experience. In addition, Simon will showcase work from some other well known photographers who joined him on a Bahamas shark charter last year, looking at the techniques and styles they adopted to capture the action.

Focus On - Results

This month's BSoUP Member's Focus On Competition theme was Anemone fish. As one might expect there were a large number of entries - with 47 images by 47 members.

There was fierce competition, with each of the top three images gaining 6 firsts.

Congratulations to Amanda Cuff who was the winner with 43 points and way ahead of her nearest rivals.

Congratulations also to Tony Baskeyfield who came second with 26 points just beating Ken Sullivan with 325 points into second place.
