The next BSoUP meeting takes place on Wednesday, May 19th at 7.30 for 8.00 p.m. at our usual venue the Holland Club, Imperial College, S. Kensington, London. Directions. New members will be welcomed from 7.30 p.m.

Photo techniques: Making the most of opportunities by Cathy Lewis.

Why is it that some dives are very productive while others just seem a waste of time? It's not just dependent on subject matter - mindset, diving conditions and a bit of pre-plannning can make all the difference. As a self-confessed 'bish, bash, bosh' photographer I thought I'd try and change the habits of a lifetime by thinking about how, why and when I get my best results.

Cathy's short talk is a chance to show you some of her favourite shots, as well as some missed opportunities, and to offer a few simple tips about how to increase your chances of getting the best results from every dive.

Focus On Competition: Wide Angle with model. BSoUP Members only. The competition is now closed, but BSoUP Members only may view the Competition Slideshow, but will be asked to login, if they haven't already done so this session.

Main Event: Vancouver Island by Rob Bailey.

Robert Bailey will discuss a two week odyssey to Vancouver Island in September 2009 and talk primarily about and taking pictures and diving two locations on the island. Browning Pass and Victoria. A little bit of a geography lesson,  a little history, and a guided underwater tour of the area. Images by Arthur Kingdon, and Trevor Rees will also be included in the presentation. After being away ten years Robert wanted to see if the marine life was as abundant as he remembers. An area only captured on film in the past, Robert was keen to take the digital equipment in the area.
