Founder's day

At last night's BSoUP meeting Colin Doeg (co-founder), Tim Glover, Geoff Harwood and Peter Scoones (co-founder) gave us a fantastic insight into the early days of BSoUP.

They brought along some of the amazing underwater equipment that they had developed in the 60's and 70's before such things were available off the shelf. and each spoke about their contributions to and benefits of being involved with BSoUP and their own careers in underwater photography.

Both Tim and Geoff worked for Kodak back then and were at the fore front of film and camera development. Their knowledge coupled with Peter's not inconsiderable prior expertise as an RAF photographer laid the foundations for Britain's oldest underwater photographic society. Among many acheivements, between them they produced the legedary blue databook filled with information on how to DIY, including constructing domes, housings, flash-triggering devices and the like.

During the break and following their presentations the audience flocked to look at some of their 'museum' pieces and meet these venerable pioneers in underwater photography.

If you have any images of the evening please send them to Brian Pitkin to post on the website.
