BSoUP Meeting - November 2005

Previous month Next month

November kicks off with the AGM - this constitutional obligation is dealt with as soon as possible so we can get on with the 'fun' bits of the evening. You should have received the Agenda, Minutes of 2004 AGM, Proposed Committee List and Ballot Form and 2005 Accounts.

COMPETITION - BEGINNERS PORTFOLIO

Open to both members and non-members provided they have not been placed in a National or International competition such as BSoUP's Open Portfolio Competition, the BSoUP or St. Abbs Splash-Ins, Image, Underwater Photographer of the Year, Wildlife Photographer of the Year etc. Each entry must comprise 6 images taken by the entrant. Aquarium or pool shots are NOT eligible. The winner will receive the DIVER Trophy and a cheque for £100 donated by DIVER Magazine, who reserve the right to publish the winning portfolio slides. Please check the full Rules and Regulations

PHOTO CRITIQUE - PETER ROWLANDS

Following the competition is a rather different presentation which we are really looking forward to and which we think will prove immensely useful and informative. We are very proud to host Peter Rowlands who runs UWP, the free online digital Underwater Photography Magazine www.uwpmag.com - a veteran of BSoUP (honorary life member) and originator of the Ocean Optics retail store, Peter will illustrate his talk with images submitted by BSoUP members to discuss what works, what does not and why, how an image could have been improved etc. This is a unique opportunity to really understand
what gives an image impact and what can make it miss the mark.

Peter will be examining themes that emerge and we sincerely anticipate you will go away from the evening with a much greater understanding of why a picture is successful or otherwise.

If you are able to join us we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday
