‘The basking shark was photographed in Cornwall from Charlie Hood's boat. The image is a composite, but it was only possible to make this composite by using my super-sized dome port (almost two feet across) built for me by BSoUP's Peter Ladell. Both halves of the image were shot on the same day, in the same location, with the same camera and lens. The big dome allowed me to produce a clean split in the open sea, which made the composite possible’.
Alex won the Ocean Leisure Cameras Print Trophy and a £250 redeemable at both Ocean Leisure and Ocean Leisure Cameras plus a pair of tickets to one of OLC's forthcoming Sunday afternoon in-store training sessions (worth £100) donated by Ocean Leisure Cameras and an individual acrylic trophy.
Although Alex, who now lives in Sardinia, was not present at the Ceremony, he sent a video of his acceptance speech, which was projected at the Awards Ceremony. |
