My Print

by Mike Deaton

‘The seal at the front of the picture was particularly playful and stayed with us most of the dive and seemed to encourage the others to come close too. You'll notice that its front left flipper has an extended claw which seemed to be due to loss of flesh from its flipper, but otherwise seemed healthy enough. There was a rubber tag on one its back flippers which looked like it had probably been on there for a number of years. I did manage to blow up one of the shots and could just make out that it said 'London Zoo' but I couldn't make out the tag number.‘

‘As for me, I've been diving for about 20 years and have been lucky enough to dive at some exotic locations such as Truk, Palau, Maldives as well as frequent trips to the Red Sea. As a member of Appledore Sub Aqua Club based in North Devon I'm very fortunate to have Lundy a short boat trip away. I've been taking photos underwater for the last nine years and have amassed lots of images and face the perennial question of what on earth to do with them all.

Mike won the Calumet Photographic trophy and a £250 voucher to spend at Calumet Photographic and an individual acrylic trophy.
