GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2008 contest

For the 8th time the GDT (Gesellschaft Deutscher Tierfotografen e.V.) invites amateurs and professionals from all over Europe to participate in this event. There we will be cash prizes for the winners as well as the runners-up of each category. The overall winner will receive a cheque for € 2 000. All photographers whose pictures are selected will receive the exhibition catalogue. The overall winner as well as the winners and runners-up in each category will receive free tickets for the International Nature Photography Festival in Lünen.

National Wildlife Photo Competition |
National Wildlife 38th Photo Competition
Deadline: 1st July 2008
Let us showcase your work! We invite you to submit your favorite nature images to our 2008 photography competition—our biggest Photo Contest in 38 years. Cash prizes totaling $18,000 plus camera equipment and other gifts will be awarded to the winners in three separate divisions: professional, amateur and youth. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000. Plus, a portfolio of award-winning entries will be published in the 2008 December/January issue of the magazine.
In return for your $15 entry fee, you will receive a one-year membership in the National Wildlife Federation, including a subscription to National Wildlife*, and you can submit as many as 20 images in six categories.

Splash-in registration deadline - Wednesday 2 July 2008
The British Splash-In Championship - 2008, organised by the British Society of Underwater Photographers (BSoUP) in association with the National Marine Aquarium, will take place on Saturday 12 July at the Mount Batten Centre and the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth, Devon. All underwater photographers are invited to participate, whether they are members of BSoUP or not.
Olympus UK is providing sponsorship for all of the running costs of the print competition including the print mounting
There are two competitions – digital images taken on the day and prints taken prior to the event. |
Prizes, trophies and individual awards will be presented for winning images in each category. In addition, grand prizes will be awarded by an independent panel of judges for the image selected as the best taken in local waters on the day and for the best print. The prize for the best image taken in local waters on the day is again a one week liveaboard holiday in the Red Sea generously donated by Tony Backhurst Scuba and the prize for the best print is a one week Red Sea diving holiday generously donated by Oonasdivers. Four digital compact cameras have also been donated as prizes by Olympus UK
Viewing and judging of the on the day images entered will take place at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth on the Saturday night.

MCS Plymouth Prints competition
Deadline 18 July
The
Marine Conservation Society Plymouth Local Group has
organised a photo competition titled 'Marine Conservation
- the good, the bad and the ugly' to help raise awareness of
the issues of marine conservation, pollution etc. It is open
to all, provided the photos are taken in Britain (land and
underwater classes).
The
deadline for entering your prints on
18th July and Sally Sharrock, Seasearch coordinator
for the Devon area will be happy to collect entries at the
BSoUP British Splash-In Championship in Plymouth the previous
week.

World Festival of Underwater Pictures - Antibes
The 35th World Festival of Underwater Pictures will be held in Antibes Juan-les-Pins France, at the Convention Centre from October 29th to November 2nd 2008.
During the Festival, the competitors films, slides and slides-show will be screened into three rooms (Spondylia room: 300 seats; Merry Ferrer room: 100 seats; and a tent with a capacity of 600 seats).
A thousand square metres will be reserved for exhibitors. The main hall of the Convention Centre will host magazines, the exhibition of works in competition (still photographs)... and the bar of the Festival.

SanDisk Red Sea World of Underwater Images
10-15 November 2008
The SanDisk Red Sea World of Underwater Images competition is now in its fourth year. The competition, based in Eilat, Israel, offered a staggering US$80, 000 in prizes last year
The top prize for the best images taken in Eilat during the three days of the Shoot Out included US$ 10,000 courtesy of SanDiskplus plus 3 weeks diving for two to Papua New Guinea, with:
Walindi, Loloata Resorts and aboard Star Dancer plus round trip air tickets Singapore - Papua

This year's event, which takes place between the 10 - 15th November, is open to all underwater photographers and will be even bigger with an additional category and even more prizes.
