My portfolio by Duncan Robins

I currently live in Newbury, Berkshire. After a brief career as a fisheries scientist I turned to the dark-side and now work in IT. I've been into photography as a hobby for a few years and interested in the underwater world since I was a kid. I decided to combine these 2 interests in August 2006 and bought myself an underwater camera housing (a Hugyfot) for my Nikon D200. Not really knowing where to begin I booked myself on a Martin Edge course and a trip with him to Hawaii. I learnt so much from him and the others on this trip in these few days.
I've really got the bug now and been on a few group trips with many great people to Red Sea and Sipadan and more recently Guadalupe. Currently busy saving for a couple of trips next year.

Top Left:
Hopefully something slightly different for a clownfish shot. Taken in Southern Red Sea in June 2007. f10 1/60 60mm macro. |
 |
Top middle:
A school of batfish. I wasn't too sure whether this one would work in a portfolio as it best viewed large. However the colours and composition seemed to work well so I decided to keep it in there. Taken in Sipadan in May 2007. f6.3 1/250, 10.5m fisheye. |

Top right:
A dwarf moray. These things are pretty small (as its name might suggest) so not really as scary as it looks. Taken in Hawaii in Sept 2006. f14 1/50, 60mm macro. Single strobe. |

Bottom left:
A green turtle, Sipadan. Some great opportunities for turtle photography in Sipadan - they seemed to be everywhere ! Really pleased with colours in this one. f7.1 1/250, 10.5mm fisheye. |

Bottom middle:
A red sea soft coral taken in St Johns caves, Southern Red Sea. The low sun was in just the right place - right behind the soft coral. f22 1/80, 10.5mm fisheye. |

Bottom right:
Clown fish and its anenome. Taken on my trip to Sipadan in May 2007. f14 1/60, 60mm macro |
