This year the British Society of Underwater Photographers (BSoUP) again teamed up with DIVER Magazine and The Wildlife Trusts to stage this major competition at the DIVE Show at the NEC, Birmingham over the weekend of 22-23 October, 2011. A total of 80 of the best prints were mounted and displayed at the show.
The event was sponsored by DIVER Magazine, Oonasdivers, The Wildlife Trusts, Calumet Photographic, Cameras Underwater, Ocean Leisure Cameras and Mike’s Dive Store.
The Overall Winner and Runner-up were judged by a panel comprising Nigel Eaton (DIVER Magazine), John Boyle (Shark Bay Films) and Paul Duxfield (Ocean Leisure Cameras).
The four main categories (Advanced Overseas, Advanced British and Irish, Overseas (non-advanced) and British and Irish (non-advanced) were judged by visitors to the Dive Show. Nearly 1,000 visitors to the Show voted for their favourite prints.
The non-advanced categories were restricted to underwater photographers who had not previously come first, second or third in a national or international competition.
The British entries in the combined Advanced British and Irish and British and Irish (non-advanced) categories were judged by Tanya Perdikou and Jessica Bersey of The Wildlife Trusts.
The Awards Ceremony took place on Wednesday evening 16th November, 2011 at Imperial College, London.
