The British Society of Underwater Photographers (BSoUP) is a not-for-profit membership organisation that promotes all aspects of underwater photography. Whatever your level of experience or knowledge, we're here to guide you on your journey as an underwater photographer. About BSoUP

BSoUP welcomes photographers of all skill levels with any type of underwater camera system from compact camera to DSLR.

BSoUP's aim is to inspire and encourage underwater photographers and to help develop underwater photography in all aspects. It strives to help its members create great underwater images and to promote excellence in underwater photography.

BSoUP provides expert advice and encouragement through a network of experienced underwater photographers who help newcomers and others to develop through monthly meetings, news and our own magazine.

Spot Monthly Meetings

We meet on the third Tuesday of every month in Meeting Room 3, Union Building, Beit Quadrangle, Prince Consort Road, Imperial College, South Kensington, London SW7 2BB. Full directions, including a map.

Meetings start at 8.00pm and finish at around 10.30pm. New and potential members are encouraged to come along at 7.30pm, when there will be committee members on hand to welcome you.

Members receive BSoUP's magazine 'in focus', which is published three times a year. It contains articles and photos of places members have been, tips and techniques, and news of events, meetings and competition winners.

We organise national and monthly members-only competitions.

Next competition: July 2015- Focus On - Big Animals - images that convey the scale of any BIG animal: sharks, rays, whales, etc. The competition is now open. Please read the Rules beore entering online.

British and Irish Underwater Photography Championship (BIUPC)

September 4th 2015

For the first time, photographers in Britain and Ireland will compete against each other to produce the most eye-catching images from the waters around the shores and within the inland lakes, quarries, rivers and even caves of the two islands.

Entitled the British and Irish Underwater Photography Championship (BIUPC), the groundbreaking competition is open to images taken on any type of camera which is or can be waterproofed. These range from action cameras, smart phones, tablets and pole-cams to the most expensive professional digital models.

Only photographs taken from 10pm on September 4, 2015 and submitted by the same time the next day are eligible.
